Ahhh....the smell of pine tar.

Well actually I can't smell it yet but I know it's in the air, no not Pine trees. BASEBALL, the greatest sport ever invented. Yes I know some of you who read this will be like...BS, but there is no other sport that has been given the title of 'America's Pastime'. So take that!
Let me explain a little history of my baseball fandom. I haven't always been a fan of this sport, in June 2015 I will be celebrating my 8th year as a fan. That means I was in my middle 30's. Maybe I was a closet baseball fan before then you might say and I would say you are WRONG! Want to know what my thoughts of baseball were before this time. Let's just say it was boring, dull, long and it never held my attention. When I was a kid back in the early 80's I would collect baseball and football cards and I remember the '82 Brewers being in the World Series, watching a game or 2 with my father but that's as far as it ever got. I also remember going to some Appleton Foxes games. Now that I am a complete spazoid fan of this great sport it makes me wonder what greats I did see at these games. I doubt I will ever know.
I have no explanation of what happened to me back in June of 2007 other than some of my father finally got in me. I was watching a Cubs game with my father-in-law and something just snapped inside me. I also have to give credit to a friend of mine who is a huge Brewer fan. When I say I'm a spazoid fan of this sport, it doesn't just mean I'm a Brewer fan. Yes that is my favorite major league team. We have a great park, great fans and the greatest radio broadcaster of all time in Bob Uecker. I really would love to see them win a championship while he is still the broadcaster. I love every aspect of the game and no salaries is not part of the game, it's part of...oh never mind, that is another post in itself. I could watch a little league game with as much excitement as a major league game. It's how the players shift differently with the batters. How the umpires control the game. It's just a great sport and I love it. It's great that I work in the city that the Timber Rattlers are in and I hope to see a lot of their games this season and plus with them being in the farm system for the Brewers, it's a win win.
Right now it's Spring Training and it means that all the teams have a clean slate. On each team there are players who actually believe they will win the World Series. Look at last year, it was actually 2 Wild Card teams who went to the Big Show. I love to listen to the baseball pundits spin their take on who will win and who won't. I love it when they say a team is building for the year 2017. That is all just hog wash to me. I am going to have my almost 4 year old pick from a hat for each division and see how close she comes. If she does really well I expect to become famous. Some year I hope to make it out to Spring Training especially in Arizona to see the Brewers but I wouldn't mind going to Florida either. There should be games on just about each day now until the end of October. You got to love that. I have no picks myself except that I want the Brewers to win it of course.
PLAY BALL!!!!!!
